Making the Home of Your Dreams a Reality!: Joys of Home Ownership

Joys of Home Ownership

I am reminded today of the joy of home ownership. I have lived in my beautiful home in Sunny Santee for 10 years this Labor Day. Over the course of this time, we, as any homeowner does, have enjoyed the weekend projects of painting, planting and repairing. Hours upon hours have been spent on making our home our castle, our place to relax, our little piece of paradise.

Paradise does however, come with little challengesSantee being Santee is known for it's hot temperatures. Yesterday we set record temperatures of 108 degrees. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Ok, so to live in paradise, we must make some compromises. But does that really mean my AIR CONDITIONING must  go on the fritz? Ahh, the joys of home ownership.

With such hot temperatures, we are so fortunate to have a pool to cool us off during the peak summer months. Along with the rest of America, we have tightened our belts over the last year and unfortunately, one of the things we decided to cut was the pool guy. As intelligent adults, you would think we would be able to figure out the correct mixture of chemicals to keep the water where it needs to be for PH and chlorine. Someday we will get it right?Another joy of home ownership..........

Over the years we have taken pride in the landscaping of our fantastic home. We are fortunate enough to have Hansen and Sons Landscapingin the family who has provided us with our tropical paradise; 11 Queen palm trees, 8 Sago Palms, 3 King Palms a Plumeria tree and all of the accent plants that make it again, paradise. Surrounding the pool and Koi pond we have come to love the place we call home. But with that, the maintanance of said landscaping has come to be expensive to say the least. As I watch the tree trimmer climb the queen palms to maintain their beauty, my pocketbook is again reminded of the joys of home ownership.

Of course, these challenges are all overlooked in the big picture. We have a great home to entertain. Our adult kids even want to throw parties here! We are the home for the holidays, the break in the monotony for our friends and the relaxing environment to take our minds off of our daily stresses.

I am proud to be a homeowner. I live in a fantastic place, I am a part of the terrific community of Santee and love my business! I am excited to sharethe joys of home ownership with my clients!

Good morning Stephanie, we also have a pool and my husband has become our pool guy.  We're still trying to figure it all out and just as soon as we do, something else pops up that we don't know about. Ahh, the joys of home ownership:)

Stephanie:  Just had this conversation yesterday with a close friend and new ActiveRainer.  I have a genuine need to be a homeowner.  Home ownership is a major component of the American Dream and to me there is inherent peace and security which comes along with that right and responsibility.  Thanks.

Oh so many joys and challenges.  All of them are worth it!  Your home sounds perfectly wonderful Stephanie!

108 degrees - That's enough to make you not want to come out of that pool.  We've been fortunate in Sacramento this year.  We've had few days that have made it into the 100+ bracket.  On one of them I actually went out at 9:00 pm and washed my car in the driveway.  There were no water spots that way, and it was a good way to cool down before bedtime.
